Welcome to Christ the Good Shepherd Old Catholic Church. We are a progressive and vibrant parish community that celebrates the rich traditions of the Catholic faith with an open and welcoming spirit. We respect all of God’s diversity by welcoming everyone, without exception, to enter into full participation in our liturgy and sacraments. We view gender, race, nationality, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical ability, and marital status as part of God’s beautiful tapestry of life. Each and every person is precious in God’s eyes and welcomed in God’s house.
You may wonder what the Old Catholic Church is. Well, for starters, we are not part of the Roman Catholic Church. The Old Catholic Church has been independent from Rome since 1870. Despite our differences, we do share a common history with regard to apostolic succession and we hold the same Eucharistic theology, which is why Rome refers to us as sharing with them an “imperfect communion.”
At Christ the Good Shepherd, everyone is welcome to not only hear God’s word, but also to receive communion. We open the ordained ministry, as well as all of the sacraments, to both men and women, married or single, regardless of orientation or gender identification. We do not prohibit the use of birth control, nor do we exclude those who have been divorced from full participation in our liturgy and sacraments.
Along with Father Charles and Father Mike, I encourage you to look around and explore our website. If possible, please consider joining us for Sunday mass at 10:30 am. At Christ the Good Shepherd, you will find an open door and a welcoming hand.
If you are looking for a church – Welcome Home!
Blessings,
Rt. Rev. Harry Posner
