Where there are barriers, you and I will indeed surmount!
This has been Father Charles Blanchard’s modus operandi throughout his formative years in seminary (1979-1991), his career within the world of psychiatry (1991-99) and most recently within the pharmaceutical industry (1996-2011) which prematurely ended due to his little friend called Remitting Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis.
Father Charles has felt called to the priesthood ever since Flint, Michigan Saint Mary Elementatry 6 th grade; has found priestly ministry most rewarding whereby he reaches out to the marginalized, disenfranchised and oppressed. He is multi-lingual; appreciates, affirms and engages cultural diversity issues. His firm belief is the empowerment of people; to live more productive lives, meeting people where they are in life and suspending personal judgement, is a key ingredient of ministry. In this way, Christ the Good Shepherd has become an anchor of Peace and Love within his life and those whom he meets.
Through prayer and discernment, and God’s unfailing grace, Father Charles and his husband journeyed forward since August 5, 1991; completed their seminary studies; founded Ferndale Christ the Good Shepherd. ORCC May 12, 2013; and began the invitation of Peace and Love to all God’s people. Since our Decemer 8, 2012 ordination within the Old Roman Catholic Church, its been an honor to serve the people of God by affirming “that there are no throw away people in God’s creation.” Indeed, no barriers exist in the face of God’s abundant love. Please know that Father Charles, his fellow priests and deacon look forward to sharing in and ministering to God’s people; being “a Catholic witness to the inclusive love of Christ.” This language sings to us and has found a place in our hearts.
