Msgr. Harry first entered the seminary with the Priests of the Sacred Heart in San Antonio, Texas at age 18. As a seminarian and novice, Msgr. Harry had the opportunity to work with economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities. This experience helped him learn the importance of compassion and suspending personal judgment when ministering with people. He continued his studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan. After completing his theological studies, Msgr. Harry ultimately decided to not become ordained in the Roman Catholic Church.
After many years of living and working outside of the church, Msgr. Harry continued to feel called to the ordained ministry and was ordained as an Old Roman Catholic priest on December 8, 2012. In addition to his religious training, Msgr. Harry also has a bachelor degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. He completed a Spanish language immersion program in Santiago, Chile, and previously taught English as a Second Language at Madonna University.
In May of 2013, Msgr. Harry helped found Christ the Good Shepherd parish, where he currently serves as pastor. The parish began with seven dedicated parishioners who shared a common dream of creating a safe place where everyone could find a spiritual home. Today, our parish has since grown to over 65 active members. In April 2017, Msgr. Harry was appointed Domestic Prelate by Archbishop Stuart Watson and was given the responsibility of Vocation Director for the United States.
Msgr. Harry believes that all people are called and loved by God and that there is nothing that could ever separate us from God’s love. Christ the Good Shepherd Old Roman Catholic Church is a diverse parish where everyone is welcomed and loved, without exception.
