Have we got a book for you to read this summer!! The Religious Education Committee has selected “THE UNIVERSAL CHRIST, How A Forgotten Reality Can Change Everything We See, Hope for, and Believe,” by Richard Rohr. This book explores what it means that Jesus was called “Christ,” and how this forgotten truth can restore hope and meaning to our world. We will gather to discuss this book later in August after a Sunday Mass, date to be determined.
The author, Fr. Richard Rohr, is a globally recognized ecumenical teacher whose work is grounded in Christian mysticism, practices of contemplation and self-emptying, and compassion for the marginalized. He is a Franciscan priest of the New Mexico province and founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM, where he also served as academic dean of the Living School for Action and Contemplation. Fr. Richard is the author of many books, including the bestsellers Falling Upward, The Naked Now, Breathing Under Water, and, most recently, The Divine Dance. His work has been featured on Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday and Krista Tippett’s On Being and in the New York Times.
